I don’t understand people who get mad about Valentine’s Day
- If you’re in a relationship, it’s an opportunity to buy someone you like cool presents and get cool presents
- If you’re not, you buy yourself something cool and talk to yourself and anyone who will listen about how…
I think perhaps one of its biggest problems (Though, to be honest I stopped giving a shit after the age of 17. Cause y’know, Valentine’s day is essentially a children’s holiday. “GASP, YOU DIDN’T JUST SAY THAT D=” OH, I DID.)
The biggest problem is that it’s perhaps one of the only holidays that exists, where people are excluded if they don’t reach the criteria. And you can pretend to be involved by stalking someone you admire home and throwing a bloody heart through their window that was tied to a brick. But if we’re being honest…Valentine’s Day is for people who are in relationships. If you’re not in a relationship? You had better just crawl under a rock and wait for it all to blow over.
Because ultimately, a lot of our self worth is judged and determined by both the media and society on whether we are in a relationship or not. Valentine’s Day is the ultimate reflection of this. That’s what it boils down to…Those that it angers, it angers for reasons of being felt left out. Nobody likes to be left out! It’s that simple.
But be like me. Don’t care.
